With a Brexit deal that puts workers' rights at risk ... And fisheries now suffering

With the opposition party missing in action, it falls to the trade unions to make the case for workers’ rights, both in word and in deed.

Britain’s political tumult did not land out of a clear blue sky: it was driven in large part by the social and economic consequences of the labour movement being brought to heel by Thatcherism.

When the “war” is over, the government must not be left to define the “peace”: the trade unions must assert themselves in the struggles to come.

  • Latest update on fisheries: _ A good many problems with perishable goods deliveries and losses, But also not delivering on the governments own words. All this last minute talk And negotiating clearly has not helped.

"This can hardly be claimed as a resounding success," Ms Macdonald wrote.

"Of major concern, however, is the outcome for many key whitefish species. Your deal actually leaves the Scottish industry in a worse position on more than half of the key stocks and now facing acute problems with North Sea cod and saithe in particular.
